The 6th annual Ocean Discovery Camp was a huge hit this year, with a return to in-person instruction after being online in 2020, due to COVID-19. Campers and counselors alike were excited to return to face-to-face instruction, and it was a fun week of camp, building underwater robots, learning about ocean exploration and deep-sea discoveries. UGA's office of Public Service and Outreach wrote a great piece about camp's return to in-person instruction - you can read all about it here

Photos of just a few of the fun activities campers got to participate in are included below!

Campers simulated an oil spill and then had to clean it up! So much fun - and so much mess!

Campers played a game where they were sea turtles, having to navigate the perils of the ocean in order to survive to breeding age. It was a lot of fun and a lot of running!

Campers worked together in groups to build their own model ROVs (remotely operated vehicles, aka underwater robots)

Campers tested their ROV builds in the Marine Science pool. Some were more successful than others!
