Dr. Montoya is a biological oceanographer with extensive experience in field-based studies of elemental cycling in natural systems using both natural abundance and tracer measurements of the stable isotopes of C and N to study the fluxes of elements through oceanic ecosystems. He has worked in the Gulf of Mexico for over ten years, and in the Macondo discharge area in 2010 and 2011.
